What a steal for our young and growing firm to be able to attract such talent with such a background – Wesley has worked at bulge bracket investment bank Nomura for eight years, where he focused on green-tech, consumer, and infra, and climbed the ladder to Vice President before making the glorious entrepreneurial leap from the corporate, soulless Rembrandt Tower offices to our warm and vibrant Prinsengracht abode.

He started last week, and I couldn’t be happier with him immediately diving into 4 live transactions and adding the value that I hoped he would (ace’ing the financial modelling case in our rigorous recruitment process, in the end, means nothing of course).

I have known Wesley for years, when he interned at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Amsterdam office while I worked in the London office and came back over for a meeting with the entire PostNL board regarding the take-over attempt by bPost. Looking at the current share prices... lets just say hindsight is a beautiful thing. Anyway – back to the story.

We discussed him joining Beekers Capital two years ago, but he chose to remain at Nomura to reap the benefits of his upcoming promotion. Now, with both of usa few years further along and track records expanding, the timing felt right. He reached out after he found out we were hiring in earnest, and long story short - here we are.
